Court Shoes

Hello members,

We are emailing to remind our members of the importance of wearing non marking soled shoes when playing on the courts. We are aware that most of our members do comply with this, however, we have had someone playing on court 1 this past week who has not worn the correct footwear so the courts were left in a poor state. It takes us around 4 to 6 hours to clean the courts when someone has played without wearing the correct footwear so as you can imagine it is extremely frustrating when this happens.

It is the responsibility of all members to ensure if you are playing with a friend who is a non member that they are wearing the correct footwear. Also for our new members it is important that you know your footwear does have non marking soles before you play. We do stipulate this when new members join the club. Please be aware that shoes with white soles are not necessarily non marking.

There is a box of spare shoes under the small table on the left as you walk towards the courts. If you are unsure as to whether your shoes are non marking then do feel free to borrow a pair so the courts are not marked.

Can we also remind our members not to wear shoes to play on the courts that you have worn to travel to the club in. Shoes that have been worn outside pick up dirt, small stones, tar marks etc., and this can then mark and scratch the courts. Could we please ask all members to bring their playing shoes in their kit bag to prevent this.

Thank you everyone, as a club we don’t have many rules but the ones related to the courts are important!

Kind regards

Greg, Paul, Nico and Trev
